I'm New

Hello!

We’re glad you want to learn more about First Presbyterian Church. We have been worshiping and serving in downtown Greensboro since 1824.

Our 2,400 members of all ages gather in groups of all sizes to worship, explore and grow in our faith, take care of each other, and make a difference in this world. We seek to be a caring, compassionate, inclusive, and authentic community. Basically, we want to live in God’s love and to share that love with others.

You can get a picture of life at First Pres throughout the website and on our social media. We invite you to come and see more in person!

Visit

You are welcome to stop by anytime. Most people visit one of our worship services first. We have two Sunday services, Rejoice! at 9 am in the Life Center and a traditional service at 11 am in the sanctuary. Below is helpful info to plan your visit. NOTE: Check here for updates on our renovations, which may affect access and parking.

Rejoice! is a more casual service with an ensemble band. It starts 9 am in the Life Center (you can grab a doughnut and coffee at 8:30). Our traditional service has Chancel Choir and organ, and starts at 11 am in the sanctuary. Most people wear casual clothing to worship and you will see some suits in the sanctuary.

We occupy a full downtown block, and the sanctuary faces Fisher Park. The official address is 617 N. Elm St, Greensboro, NC 27401. Enter through our Welcome Center near the corner of North Elm and Florence streets. Map here.

Accessibility parking

Spaces are reserved along Greene Street and there is a level entry to the sanctuary. More spaces are marked in front of the Welcome Center, which is near an elevator.

Visitor parking

You are invited to park in front of the sanctuary.

General parking

  • A parking lot across Elm Street from the church; look for the sign.
  • Along Fisher Park and Greene Street. Please be respectful of the disability parking.

Feeling a little overwhelmed? We get it, it’s a large church with multiple buildings. This map of campus will help you find your way to most-used locations. If you have questions, stop by the Welcome Center and ask for help!

Welcome Center hours:
Sunday, 8:30 am-12:30 pm
Monday-Thursday, 9 am – 3 pm
Friday, 9 am – noon
Saturday, closed.

First, know that we love having children at worship services. You can pick up a bag with worship activities at the door. Children are invited to come forward for a special message during the service. See ways to make the most of worship with your kids here.

A nursery is available on the first floor of the Mullin Life Center. For your first visit we recommend that you enter via the Welcome Center or ask an usher at the other entrances to point you in the right direction.

Mothers of infants are invited to use our Nursing Room in Smith 211. Exit the sanctuary behind the pulpit, turn left at the hallway, and look for the door sign.

There’s More
