These Bricks & Mortar Matter.
Our 200-year-old faith community has filled this sanctuary with prayers, music, and the word of the Lord for almost 100 years, and infinite acts of caring have been planned and carried out across the campus and the Greensboro community. This campaign is an act of stewardship for our sacred space and a commitment to those who will bring their faith to life here for years to come.
That is the why behind the work. The work will be tuckpointing the 11-story-high sanctuary and the education building. While brick is hardy, mortar deteriorates, and this mortar is almost a century old. Water is penetrating and damaging both buildings. Tuckpointing will ground out and replace the damaged mortar, and interior damage will be repaired.
The campaign is donating $560,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Greensboro and $240,000 to the Family Success Center of the United Way of Greater Greensboro. Each has received two of five installments.
