Winter Emergency Shelter

Partnering with Urban Ministry, we are providing overnight shelter in the Shetler Building for 15 unhoused men. They have been qualified and assigned by Urban Ministry.

One of our volunteers shared this:

I worked the 5:45-9:15 shift. The shift went very well and many of the new residents had finished a long day of work before arriving at the shelter. There was a man who works at the dollar store, a man who works at the Cheesecake Factory, a construction worker, and other working men. Everything seemed to go smoothly with dinner, followed by 1-2 male volunteers escorting the men to the showering area, then by everyone settling into bed. There was a little time before lights out that some of the men enjoyed sitting in the common area and watching TV. A few stated that they would enjoy playing cards or playing chess/other board games if those were available.

Urban Ministry will qualify and assign 15 unhoused men to our shelter, and will provide a staff person overnight.
