FAQs
What’s happening?
This Saturday, February 14, at 11 am we’re going to record a full Easter service that will be aired on ABC network affiliates across the country the week of Easter.
What do I need to do?
WHAT TO WEAR: A colorful spring outfit. About your coat: You can hang it in the narthex, tuck it under the pew so the camera won’t see it, or leave it in the car.
WHEN TO GET HERE: Give yourself plenty of time to get to the sanctuary, park, get your children to the nursery, and get to your seat by 11:05.
ABOUT PARKING: As always, please allow members with mobility issues to have spaces closest to the. The lots on Eugene Street and at Hanes-Lineberry will be available for those who can walk a bit.
DURING THE SERVICE: Sing with enthusiasm! Please remain seated until the closing voluntary is finished. The camera will continue to record during that time.
AFTER THE SERVICE: Stop by the cookie reception in Mullin Life Center. If you are a family with kids infant-elementary, join First Families for lunch. Contact Lorie Jones.
THEN WHAT? The service will be prepared for broadcast by the Interfaith Broadcasting Commission and ABC. During Holy Week, it will be aired by ABC affiliates. As soon as we have a schedule, we will share it!
How did it come about?
The Interfaith Broadcasting Commission coordinates a program to air major church services. The IBC asked First Presbyterian to offer this year’s Easter service. The Worship Committee and Session agreed that this was an opportunity to share a message of God’s love and hope to a larger audience. The film must be recorded in advance to allow pre-airing production by the IBC and ABC.
