200 Years of Worship & Music

Dr. Jerry Beavers will share How FPC Has Worshipped Over the Years on October 13 and Hymnals and Hymns FPC Has Used Over the Years on October 27. Both sessions will take place at 10 am in the Garden Room, hosted by the Come as You Are class.

All Saints' Day Concert

The Chancel Choir, chamber orchestra and soloists will present John Rutter’s Requiem and more, 5 pm in the sanctuary.

  • Organ and Harpsichord Crawl with John Alexander, 9 am. Come see the organ and pipes and learn how they work as well as get a chance to play the instruments and hear some history.
  • UNCG Chamber Singers perform Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem, 8 pm.

Sunday, November 24: Worship & the Arts Sunday

  • Hymn Festival: One worship service at 11 am. with Mel Bringle, who chaired the Glory to God hymnal committee and grew up at FPC, will guide us through new and well-known hymns with plenty of singing!
  • Messiah Sing-a-long at 5 pm. Sing the Christmas portion of the Messiah (with the Hallelujah Chorus!) with string orchestra, harpsichord & soloists. Bring your own score or pick up one at the door. 
A Little Advent Music

Each year we celebrate the Advent season with special music. All are free and begin at 5 pm in the sanctuary.

Sunday, December 8

  • Raleigh Ringers Concert. This ensemble is an internationally acclaimed, Emmy-nominated handbell choir.

Sunday, December 15

  • A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols with Chancel Choir, Canticle Choir and Orchestra. This beautiful service, rooted in the late 19th century, combines short scripture readings with carols and anthems.

Sunday, December 22

  • Organ Recital by Dr. John Alexander, FPC’s Director of Music Ministry and Principal Organist. The sanctuary organ, built by Orgues Létourneau Limitée of Saint Hyacinthe, Quebec, Canada, was installed in 2000. It contains more than 6,800 pipes divided into two instruments: a Chancel Organ of 86 stops and a Gallery Organ of 30 stops.
