Jack & Betsy Harrington, FPC members

The street evangelist cries out, “Get right with God.” Our giving to FPC is part of our spiritual quest to get right with God.

We believe that the ways we use our financial resources are, in large measure, moral choices. In his book Mere Christianity theologian C.S. Lewis suggests that every  moral choice we make is a tweak that pivots us either to being more aligned with God’s will or less so. We believe that giving our pledge to FPC aligns us more closely with God’s will for us and for the world and helps loosen our grasp on and for the vain things to which the world lures us.

For us, giving is an act of obedience and submission to God and is an act of inclusion, folding us into the body of Christ, namely his church. We believe that our giving can compound with the fidelity of others to move far greater mountains than we alone might dare try to budge.

Our experience also has been that giving to the cause of Christ helps us cultivate His immeasurable empathy. It softens and enlarges our hearts. It leads us out of our self absorption and more into caring for others.

Finally our giving is an act of gratitude. The opportunity to share God’s bounteous provision brings us boundless  joy.

Commitment Sunday is November 21. All our gifts are needed to keep FPC’s ministries making a difference!
