Sandie Gravett will continue the video series, Christ Crucified and Risen: Stories of the Faithful. Today: The first witnesses to the resurrection were women. The four gospels all name Mary Magdalene as present. The Synoptic gospels also name “Mary” (“Mary mother of James in Luke; the “other” Mary in Mark and Matthew) and Luke adds Joanna and other women. Who were they? How were they a part of Jesus’ circle? Why are they the first witnesses to the risen Christ? We will explore these questions and more. Also with a reflection on the day’s hymn, Jesus Christ Is Risen Today, from Lane Ridenhour, music leader for the Young Men’s Bible Class.

Nate Sell will curate TED Talks Faith: “The 4 Stories We Tell Ourselves about Death” by Stephen Cave, philosopher and author of the book Immortality. Start with Nate’s Resurrection class guide.
